On a hot summer day in 1918, **Herschel Mills Duncan** fired up the roaster for the very first batch of what would become the Duncan Coffee Company. Fresh from his experience at the old Cheek-Neal plant (where his uncle had co-founded Maxwell House), Herschel poured his expertise into creating exceptional coffee blends.
He started by supplying premium coffee to the finest restaurants, hotels, and railroad dining cars across Texas and the Southwest. From the very beginning, quality and freshness were non-negotiable.
